If Spanish music is an interest, here’s a must have: Hand in Hand with Joaquin Rodrigo, My life at the maestro’s side, by Victoria Kamhi de Rodrigo.
Although the book doesn’t discuss much about vocal music other than dates and who might have commissioned, it gives details about first performances.
It does record the composer’s life, who he knew, etc. Very interesting to note how many different musicians and artists from different genre he knew.
Beginning of the book’s devoted to Kamhi’s early life and her musical training. Be patient! It explains why she was able to be Rodrigo’s right hand throughout their life together.
Excellent web site for all Rodrigo‘s publications, videos, etc., run by their daughter. Available in Eng/Span.
